4GermanyNorisks seem bigger than potential benefits to me. We will always find a way to burn more gas so it is senseless to look for more. rather, we should change our lifestyle and consume less.

22GermanyYesFracking is an old used process for exploration of oil also in Germany. Therefore a save handling taken into account the risk of ground water pollution is possible. From my perspective a private compensation is not adequate but for the common welfare a guaranteed local business tax of each explorated m³ gas is adequate.

31GermanyNoNo, I think it is important to feel free to drink the water out of the tube!
32GermanyYesYes; however, the adequate compensation should be really adequate, which means a contribution which covers at least the loss in value of my house plus the loss of value of my surrounding area.
33GermanyNo
34GermanyYesCompared to other industrial activities the land usage and noise from fracking and gas production is very low. I could not say what an "adaquate compensation" would be, but some financial benefits would of cource be appreciated.

37GermanyYesI had to accept Solar panels PVA, Windturbines and "Bio" gas, without beeing asked and compensatet. Losses of value of property should be compensated.
38 NoOf what use could a free gas supply be if the ground waters gets contaminated and therefore poisonous?

41NetherlandsYesRather hypothetical, as I live in a city center. For the alleged risks, I do not see any, apart from the usual construction site noise and dust, maybe. Arguments against fracking seem to be mainly concerned with the chemicals of the fracking fluid, even though none of them is actually harmful. Moreover, shale gas lies much deeper than groundwater, such that the alleged contamination of groundwater is no more than a myth.
42GermanyYesIf it is my ground they use for it then there has to be a compensation. If it is not my ground it is the decision of the owner. But generally we can not want to have a modern life without energy and the side effects energy production has.

54GermanyYesany drilling rig or the traffic related to a drilling operation will disappear at least after three months, later the influences of gas production are not spectacular. The price for gas produced in my backyard should be lower than the price for gas, that was transported in pipelines for many thousand kilometers. And in my backyard the monitoring systems for groundwater and air are trustworthy.

57BelgiumYesYes, yes by all means
58GermanyYesYes, I would accept. I have been living only 400 Meters away from a natural gas producing facility in northern Saxony-Anhalt for some years. The next one was just 1 km away. The main treatment station of the giant gasfield (2nd largest following the Groningen field in the Netherlands) is just about 2 km away from my parents home. About 100 of the 320 producing wells were fraced. So, for me it would be no problem living next to a fraced gaswell.
59GermanyYesIf we need the outcome of those drillings than I would surely accept it. I mean if we want to life comfortable but the industry shouldnt be near my home then this is inconsequent or simply selfish to claim the advantages and to reject the drawback is simply immature in my opinion.
60GermanyYesich sehe kein Problem beim Fracking
61GermanyNoI'm with Rex - but not to be bought

106GermanyYescontrollable risk, no compensation needed, as residents don't get compensations for wind farms, power plants or other necesarry infrastructure.
107GermanyYes
108GermanyYes
109GermanyYesWhy not? I have to accept sludge-gas reactors in my neighborhood - with all intrinsic biological risks, managed by countrymen! I have to accept "ornithotoxic" windmills, including so far undetermined infrasound risks. I have to accept photovoltaic installations and accumulators all containing toxic waste compounds. including radioactive waste for neodym mining that make "renewables" possible - OK the latter only if I would be Chinese.

118GermanyYes
119 Yes"Yes" only if fracking occurs by the state of the art. The acceptance depends on the kind of "drilling installation", too. A drilling field operated for a short time ( some weeks) is acceptable. A single drilling tower operated for some months is acceptable. A production well operated for some years is acceptable. A drilling field operated for some years is not acceptable. Compensation by money would be o.k. as well as by free gas supplie.

127United KingdomYesYes, sure. It needs to be borne in mind that the dangers portrayed by films like Gasland or Gasfever are polemic and badly researched. Furthermore the situation in the US can't be projected on the German situation where we have a different geology and different laws and competent regulatory bodies!

An adequate compensation would not even be if the people in charge of drilling switched homes with me and from now on live in my contaminated neighbourhood.

151GermanyNo- No - They can't handle the risks - They don't know what might happen in 50 years and i'm still alive then. It's not safe now , and for later times they know nothing about. There's much time for the toxic fluid to spread, perhaps even in collaboration with natrual earth movements.

180 NoI did a worldwide check regarding fracking regions and wherever fracking was used it totally ruined the environment. Wind & Sun energy is the solution to quit with gas, oil and atomic energy.
182GermanyNoDefinetly not!!! But again, money rules the world....
183GermanyNothe risk of water and soil contamination is simply too high. also, a lot of infrastructure has to be installed, which causes direct loss of undeveloped land. and again, where is the long-term use (see question 1)?

201GermanyYes- A deduction of 10-20% on Gas bill would be fine - In Germany we are not used to get bribed for accepting technology, but as the EEG has setteld new grounds on this matter why not use this for carbon technology
